Developing an automatic collector of runoff for studies using rainfall simulators

ABSTRACT Soil erosion studies using rainfall simulators are generally expensive and time consuming. Thus, the aim of this study was to develop a prototype an automatic runoff collector, capable real-time quantifying volume soil loss in field trials simulator. The used sensors were chosen based on type A uncertainty computed from different volumes water concentrations sediment. Through specific programming, volume, sediment occurrence collections corresponding each 200 cm³ recorded micro-SD card. robustness calibration programming developed also evaluated Arduino Mega® 2560 microcontroller. pressure (PSI.420) turbidity (ST100) selected for developing prototype, which with InfiAsper Then, data collected automatically by compared those obtained manual measurement. collector equipped PSI.420 ST100 has potential obtain store data, it effective evaluating process, generating mean errors 12.25 13.16% loss, respectively. proposed low cost manufacture, addition optimizing collection simulators.
